Build the Little Street

A hands-on listening and speaking worksheet for Super Minds Second Edition Level 2 learners. Children use spoken position clues to place two picture cards in a street, then describe the completed arrangement. Includes an English teacher guide with listening scripts, answers and an alternative round.

Target Vocabulary
hospital, cinema, playground, swimming pool

Target Language
The cinema is next to the hospital.
The swimming pool is between the cinema and the playground.

Activity

  • An adult cuts out the two lower picture cards.
  • Review the four places and model “next to” and “between”.
  • Listen to the teacher’s two clues.
  • Place the cinema and swimming pool in the empty spaces.
  • Check both clues before fixing the cards.
  • Describe the finished street with teacher support.
  • Remove the cards and try the alternative listening round.

Learning Goal
Understand spatial relationships in spoken sentences and use “next to” and “between” to describe places.

Teacher’s Insight
The hospital and playground stay fixed. Keep the two movable cards loose so children can revise their choices. Demonstrate the relationships with objects first; independent reading and writing are unnecessary.
