Zoo Count and Match

This watercolor worksheet helps beginner young learners practise four animal words while counting quantities from one to four. Children count each animal group, connect it to the matching dot group and say the total with support. No independent reading, writing or numeral recognition is required. Includes a separate teacher page with preparation, an answer guide and accessible alternatives.

Target Vocabulary: Parrot, fish, zebra, lion; one, two, three, four.

Activity:

  • Explore: Review the animal pictures and familiar number words.
  • Count: Touch each animal picture once while counting.
  • Match: Connect each animal group to the box containing the same number of dots.
  • Say: Name the animal and total separately, such as “Zebra. Two.”
  • Try another way: Point to the matching groups instead of drawing lines.

Learning Goal: To connect quantities with dot representations while strengthening animal vocabulary and counting confidence.
