Town Picture Puzzles

A watercolour picture-puzzle activity for Starter-level English learners. Children join upper and lower picture halves to rebuild three familiar places, then name them. The activity supports visual matching and vocabulary recall without independent reading or writing. Includes a separate teacher page with preparation, an answer key and accessible alternatives.

Target Vocabulary: school, park, toy shop

Activity

  • The teacher cuts out the six picture pieces along the dashed outlines.
  • Mix the pieces and keep them face up.
  • Find the matching upper and lower halves.
  • Rebuild each place and say its name.
  • Check the joins with a partner, then mix and try again.

Learning Goal: Recognise familiar places through part-to-whole matching and recall their English names.
