Zoo Preference Detectives

A listening and speaking worksheet for Super Minds Second Edition Level 2 learners. Children combine two spoken food-preference clues to match each animal with a numbered picture card. Includes watercolour illustrations and an English teacher guide with a listening script and answer key.

Target Vocabulary
tiger, monkey, parrot, apples, bananas

Target Language
The tiger likes apples.
The monkey doesn’t like apples.
The parrot doesn’t like bananas.

Activity

  • Review the animals, foods and tick/cross symbols with teacher support.
  • Listen to two sentences about each animal.
  • Find the card that matches both food preferences.
  • Write its number in the circle beneath the animal.
  • Listen again and check.
  • Describe each animal’s preferences while a partner points to its card.

Learning Goal
Combine affirmative and negative listening clues to identify a matching preference profile, then describe it orally.

Teacher’s Insight
One food clue may fit two cards; learners need both clues to identify the correct match. Preferences are invented for these characters. Children may point while an adult records their answers; independent reading is unnecessary.
