Two Market Baskets

A hands-on listening and speaking worksheet for Super Minds Second Edition Level 2 learners. Children identify four watercolour food pictures and place them in two baskets following spoken prompts. Includes an English teacher guide with two listening rounds, answer keys and supported alternatives.

Target Vocabulary
tomatoes, potatoes, lemons, grapes

Activity

  • An adult cuts out the four food cards.
  • Review the food words with teacher support.
  • Listen to two food words while the teacher points to a basket.
  • Place both matching cards inside that basket.
  • Complete the other basket and name its foods.
  • Check, remove the cards and try the second listening round.
  • Take turns naming and placing foods with a partner.

Learning Goal
Recognise spoken food words and recall them using picture support.

Teacher’s Insight
Each card represents a food type, not a quantity to count. Card order within each basket does not matter. Children may point while an adult moves the cards; independent reading and writing are unnecessary.
